China Halts New Online Game Approvals: SCMP

(AF) China has suspended the approval of new online games, delivering a new blow to the nation’s major gaming companies, the South China Morning Post reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

NetEase and Tencent met officials from the ruling Communist Party and the National Press and Publication Administration, which regulates games, the report states, citing unnamed sources. They discussed how the companies will implement Beijing’s requirement that young people under 18 only be allowed to play video games for three hours each week, the report said, citing the people.  Full story: South China Morning Post
