(AF) Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is shedding a fifth of its workforce after merging with smaller affiliate OnePlus, Bloomberg has reported.
In what the report called the first consolidation among Chinese phone makers since Covid and chip shortages hurt the sector, staff at the Shenzhen-based company’s IoT and wearables division will be laid off, as will those who customise Android into Oppo’s own ColorOS. Full report: Bloomberg
