RBI Opens Real Estate Debt Papers To Foreign Investors: ET

(AF) The Reserve Bank of India’s decision to allow foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to invest in debt securities issued by real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs), has opened up a new asset class for foreign investors, the Economic Times reported on Monday.

Market regulator the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had opened up this route for FPIs back in December 2017, but the lack of enabling provisions by the RBI was a roadblock up until now. This is now set to change, the newspaper said. Full story: The Economic Times.
