Officials believe Canada can be “a gateway” for Vietnamese businesses to access the wider North American market, helping to develop the country’s economy and trade, the Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.
Under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, Canada reduces import taxes to 0%, said Ho Chi Minh City deputy customs director Nguyen Huu Nghiep. Vietnam exported about $900m in goods to Canada in 2020.
