Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun investigating allegations of corruption related to the administration of Formula E, the electric vehicle racing tournament, the Jakarta daily Kompas reported on Friday.
The investigations centres around payments allegedly made by the Jakarta metropolitan government to Formula E organisers while the racing was suspended during the coronavirus pandemic.
Lawmaker Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo told Kompas he did not know yet if the payments were made to an appropriate organisation such as the Formula E governing body in the UK, or to a third party.
