Chinese AR glasses startup Nreal announced on Thursday that it had received $15 million in funding from Gentle Monster’s parent company Licombined. The new partnership will utilize Gentle Monster’s status as a leading sunglasses and eyeglasses brand to explore a combination of fashion and technology, according to Nreal’s statement. Founded in 2017, the startup completed its series C+, led by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba in March, gaining $60 million in investment. The firm initially targeted overseas markets but released two models of AR glasses in China this week with a price tag of $335 to $627. The firm also announced a new glass model to release in September, partnering with Chinese EV maker Nio. [TechNode reporting]
