Octopus Electric Vehicles, the car rental unit of British energy supplier Octopus Energy, has committed to buying 5,000 electric cars from BYD over the next three years under a partnership agreement signed by the two companies, the Chinese automaker announced Monday. BYD’s Atto 3 compact five-seater crossover, also known as the Yuan Plus in China, will be the first model supplied by BYD, and available to customers in the UK under a car leasing program. This comes just days after the Chinese auto giant began selling the Atto 3 and announced plans to open four dealerships in the country within the month.
