Lifestyle platform Xiaohongshu will reportedly launch a feature soon that allows caterers to promote and sell group-buying packages, in a similar way to Dianping, the restaurant and review service operated by Meituan. The move comes as competition heats up in the food delivery sector between local services giant Meituan and new-entrant Douyin, ByteDance’s TikTok sibling. Xiaohongshu is currently inviting merchants ranging from hotpot restaurants to snack and dessert vendors to test the feature internally, according to local media outlet Geek Park.
