Foxconn’s factory in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou has hired at least 50,000 workers in the past two weeks as it prepares for high demand from Apple, with the release of the iPhone 16 series just over a month away, according to Taiwanese media outlet Economic Daily News. The potential stock of the iPhone 16 series may reach 95 million units, the report said, with an expected knock-on effect for iPhone-related supply chains, including at Foxconn, TSMC, and Largan Precision, in the second half of the year. The hourly wages on Foxconn’s production lines have risen to a maximum of RMB 25 ($3.48), and workers who complete three months on the production line can receive a bonus of RMB 7,500 ($1,045), according to a recruitment agent for Foxconn Zhengzhou. An assembly line worker at Foxconn also stated that employees have been working more than two hours of overtime each day since mid-July. [Economic Daily News, in Chinese]
