Ant Group has recently begun hiring for roles in embodied intelligence humanoid robot systems and applications, with annual salaries of up to RMB 1 million ($137,300), according to job listings on the Chinese recruitment platform Boss Zhipin.
The company launched Shanghai Ant Lingbo Technology last year, focusing on the development of embodied intelligence technologies and products, and plans to further expand its AI investments, Ant Group told local media outlet Sina Tech on Wednesday.
Why it matters: Ant Group is joining other major Chinese tech companies such as Baidu, Tencent, Huawei, and JD.com in investing heavily in robotics and AI. By investing in these technologies, the company behind Alipay aims to expand its capabilities beyond fintech, positioning itself as a major player in the future of AI-driven innovation and robotics.
Details: The recruitment is being managed by Shanghai Ant Lingbo Technology, which was founded in December 2024 with a registered capital of RMB 100 million ($13.73 million).
- In the embodied intelligence field, the job listings on the recruitment platform include positions for humanoid robot motion control and hardware structure. The former offers an annual salary of up to RMB 1.04 million ($142,800), while the latter offers up to RMB 1.12 million ($153,800).
- The humanoid robot motion control role focuses on designing and optimizing robotic arm/human motion control systems, integrating algorithms, software, and hardware, according to the job description. It also involves analyzing and resolving technical issues within the robot’s motion control system.
- Another position, related to humanoid robot hardware structure, involves designing the humanoid robot’s body, optimizing hardware for stability and precision, and ensuring the successful integration of materials and components. Additionally, it requires creating detailed design drawings, collaborating with teams, and providing key evaluations for the robot’s hardware construction.
Context: Some 37 Chinese companies, including Baidu, Horizon Robotics, GAC Group, XPeng, Xiaomi, Tencent, Foxconn, UBTech, Leadrive Harmonic, and CATL, made the list in Morgan Stanley‘s Humanoid Robots 100: Mapping the Humanoid Robot Value Chain report released this month, which highlights the top companies in the global humanoid robot industry chain.
- The Humanoid Robot Industry Research Report, cited by state-owned media CCTV, indicates that China’s humanoid robot market was projected to reach RMB 2.76 billion ($380 million) in 2024 and is expected to grow into a trillion yuan market by 2030.
