Almost a year after Myanmar’s military seized power, the US and other Western nations have levied several rounds of sanctions against the country but they have yet to target the oil and gas industry, the junta’s main financial artery.
Now the US and other countries are facing growing pressure from lawmakers and human-rights advocates to take action against an industry that generates billions of dollars in revenue each year.
