TikTok owner ByteDance is set to lay off around 3,000 staff from its edtech business, China Star Market cited sources from the firm in a June 18 report. The report stated that all teams in ByteDance’s edtech sector apart from those targeting adult education are due to be disbanded, leaving just under 5,000 people are employed in the edtech field at the company, the report said, with those losing their jobs expected to receive some form of compensation. ByteDance previously cut staff at its edtech business late last year due to China tightening rules on K-12 education, affecting more than 1,000 employees.
