Self-driving truck startup TuSimple has parted ways with Huang Zehua, a longtime executive who has served as vice president of engineering since its inception in 2015, as commercialization of the company’s driverless truck fleet has remained painfully slow. Huang confirmed to Chinese media outlet 36Kr on Tuesday that he left TuSimple in October 2021 to start his own self-driving car company, without commenting further. The San Diego-based company told investors in May that it has delayed production of commercial trucks at full driverless Level 4 operation by one year, from 2024 to 2025, citing supply chain issues.
