Chinese regulator slams major ride-hailers over safety issues

Chinese authorities have criticized 11 domestic ride-hailing platforms over their safety practices, highlighting violations such as recruiting unlicensed drivers and demanding the platforms share responsibility with their fleet partners and pay first for passengers’ losses after any accident. The companies summoned by China’s Ministry of Transport included Didi, Alibaba’s mobility aggregation platform Amap, and T3, a ride-hailer backed by domestic auto majors, according to a statement on the ministry’s public WeChat account on Monday.
