Hong Kong approved a virtual asset trading license for Hash Blockchain, a subsidiary of blockchain firm HashKey Group, which is now qualified to operate a virtual asset trading platform for professional investors in Hong Kong, the company announced in a press release Thursday. The city’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) approved the license first time in two years, aiming to rebuild its reputation as a crypto hub to catch up with Singapore. HashKey is the second platform to secure the license since Hong Kong SFC introduced an opt-in licensing framework for crypto exchanges in November 2019. Hong Kong-listed BC Technology Group’s OSL crypto assets platform received the world’s first virtual asset license from the Hong Kong regulator in December 2020. [HashKey Group]
