CATL and Huawei announced on Wednesday that they have signed an agreement to expand electric vehicle battery partnership. The world’s top battery maker will become the first choice for the EVs partly developed by Huawei. The move could help CATL secure new orders from Huawei’s EV projects. CATL has already been a major battery supplier to Aito, an EV brand launched by Huawei and its manufacturing partner Seres last December. This month, Huawei is set to deliver its first model under the Avatr brand (partnered with CATL and state-owned automaker Changan). It is also partnering with other companies, such as Toyota’s manufacturing partner GAC and BAIC, a major partner to Daimler in China. [CATL announcement, in Chinese]
