Huawei’s semiconductor company HiSilicon saw its market share down to 0% in the global smartphone chipset since the second quarter of 2022, according to a report from hardware consultancy Counterpoint Research. The firm saw its peak in the second quarter of 2020, taking 16% of the market and ranking third, but has continued losing market shares since then, according to historical data from the consultancy. The report said Huawei has finished the inventory for the HiSilcon chipsets, and the US trade ban has made it impossible for the company to “obtain newer chipsets from TSMC, Samsung.” HiSilicon was added to the US Entity List in 2019, barring it from making advanced chips.
