Chinese phone maker Honor has set a goal of rapid growth in the European market in 2023, according to CEO Zhao Ming. “We’ve started in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and now it’s time for us to expand into Europe,” Zhao said as part of an interview at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona on Tuesday. The company, which split from telecoms giant Huawei in 2020, held the second largest share of China’s mobile phone market in 2022 according to data from market intelligence service IDC. Last year saw Honor expand into overseas markets for the first time, targeting Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. The phone brand is set to focus on high-end devices for the European market, beginning with its Honor Magic5 series and its foldable phone Magic VS, both of which launched at MWC 2023.
