CATL has launched its Xiamen Energy Storage Validation Research Institute, which it described as the world’s largest and most comprehensive one-stop testing and validation platform for the energy storage industry. The site spans 10 hectares and represents an investment of about RMB3 billion ($440 million). CATL said the facility is designed as an open, shared platform for global energy storage players.
The institute includes five laboratories focused on grid integration, high-voltage safety, thermal safety and combustion, environmental reliability, and electromagnetic compatibility. CATL said the project is aimed at moving the sector beyond component-level testing toward full-system and station-level validation under real-world operating conditions. [TechNode reporting]
