China’s internet regulator, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), published a draft amendment to the country’s Cybersecurity Law on Wednesday, seeking public comments until the end of September. The amendment increased the maximum fines from RMB 100,000 ($14,350) to RMB 1 million for critical information infrastructure operators (CIIOs) violating several rules. CIIOs and companies that use services or products that haven’t gone through or failed to pass security reviews will also face an increased fine of up to 5% of their annual revenues last year. The law took effect in June 2017. [The CAC, in Chinese]
