Pinduoduo is reportedly testing a special section on its homepage for women’s fashion, entitled “treasure clothing” (our translation), and open to users who browse or buy women’s clothing frequently. The new category has taken over a prominent homepage location previously occupied by a link to grocery delivery portal “Duoduo Maicai” and demonstrates a reprioritizing of fashion by the platform. A person familiar with the matter told Chinese media outlet Tech Planet that there are expectations for traffic to this new section to top 100 million users. The Tech Planet report also cited an employee from Pinduoduo saying that the company was placing particular emphasis on brands for the category and that the platform had already been successful in luring a number of women’s clothing brands with millions of followers on Taobao to the new section.
