Chinese optical electronics maker Ofilm, a former Apple supplier, launched a new phone camera module with adjustable mechanical aperture ranging from F1.4 to F4 on Thursday. Phones built with the new cameras will no longer need algorithms to produce images with different aperture settings. Instead, the new module supports four levels of aperture driven by motors. Huawei, Sony, and Samsung have also delivered phones with similar tech, and Ofilm’s new module could benefit as more phone makers embrace the tech.
