Shawn Layden, a former executive with Sony PlayStation, announced on Tuesday via LinkedIn that he had joined Chinese tech giant Tencent’s gaming arm as a strategic advisor in August. Layden says he will “advise, assist, and support the team at Tencent as they deepen their activities and commitments within the industry.” He previously served as the head of Sony’s entertainment and computer arms and PlayStation Studios. Tencent, a major Chinese gaming firm, is aggressively expanding internationally this year, having already acquired and increased holdings in notable studios overseas including FromSoftware, Ubisoft, and Sybo.
