Tesla reported monthly shipments of 100,291 China-made electric vehicles in November, a monthly increase of 40% and a new milestone for the company after delivering a record 83,135 EVs in September, according to a Xinhua News Agency report on Monday. Year-to-date output of Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai reached 655,069 vehicles as of November, and the US automaker is expected to ship 750,000 units from its local facility by the end of the year, said Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association. And yet, some analysts have issued warnings of potential overcapacity of the Shanghai factory in 2023, which is now capable of making 1 million cars annually. [Xinhua, in Chinese]
