China’s total grain reserves are currently sufficient and stocks of major grains continue to increase, a senior food security official told Xinhua.
Supply in the domestic grain market is fully guaranteed, said National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration official Qin Yuyun, adding that China’s grain output in 2021 is projected to exceed 650 million tonnes for the seventh consecutive year.
China’s current reserves of grains are at historically high levels, Qin said, adding that with several bumper harvests, the country’s growing wheat stocks are sufficient to meet consumer demand for a year and a half.
