Li Auto’s AI chief is reportedly leaving the company

Wang Yilun, a computer scientist who led the team responsible for refining Li Auto’s automated driving functionality, is leaving the company, Chinese media outlet 36Kr reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The former Huawei scientist, who holds a master’s degree from Stanford University, is the second senior tech lead to resign from his role at the electric vehicle maker this year, following Wang Kai who left his position as a chief technology officer in February. The company operates a team of 700 engineers in developing self-driving technologies, compared with around 1,500 and 1,000 talents at Xpeng Motors and Nio respectively, the report said.
