Huawei releases new generation of smart home tech powered by HarmonyOS

Chinese telecom giant Huawei revealed its new generation of smart home tech on Wednesday in China. A major update is the introduction of power line communication (PLC) technology to make smart home service more reliable and stable even without internet connections. According to Huawei, the new smart home service can utilize AI and sensors to detect users’ positions and adjust to customized or automatic pre-sets, for example, certain light settings. Huawei also released a new home stereo system based on PLC tech, with lossless audio transmission support. To handle and control the computation of the smart home service, Huawei has introduced three consoles and a controller hub similar to Google Nest. The new third generation of the smart home service is powered by the firm’s Harmony OS, with over 2,200 partner companies and 5,600 linkable devices. [ITHome, in Chinese]
