Chinese Chipmaking software developer FA Software has secured hundreds of millions of yuan in Series D funding, Chinese media outlet 36Kr reported on Tuesday. Shanghai Semiconductor Equipment and Material Investment Fund led the round, with Qingdao Zhongke Yuchen Investment Management, Hypercvcle Venture, and Suzhou Anxin Tongying Venture Capital (our translation) also participating. The funding will be used to develop computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) and manufacturing execution system (CES) software for 12-inch wafer making, the report said. Founded in 1999, FA Software was the first Chinese firm to provide MES and CIM software for semiconductor clients and together with Primarius Technologies is one of the country’s primary electronic design automation (EDA) providers, an area of business that was targeted by US restrictions.
